Why We Built Our Own Lash Lift Kit
The question that started the whole formulation process came from educator Jess: "Why can't you have something that's gentle and efficient?"

The Solutions: Formulated for Certainty
Jess was clear about what she needed from a processing formula: "I just never want to go into a service or a training not being completely certain about processing time."
Processing time inconsistency is one of the biggest pain points in lash lift services. Too long and you damage the lash. Too short and the results don't hold. The Step 1, 2, and 3 solutions in the Brilliant kit were developed with that consistency in mind. The clarity cleanser that opens the kit is formulated to prep the lash without disrupting what comes next.
Self-Stick Shields: Less Chemical, Same Results
This is where Danielle's brand philosophy directly shaped the product decision. As Jess explains: "Because Danielle is a big advocate for natural and less is more, we started looking into self-stick shields."
Traditional lash lift methods require adhesive to bond the shield to the skin. Self-stick shields eliminate that step. The result: "The adhesive only goes on the shield. So you're just literally reducing the amount of chemical that you're exposing your client to."
For a service that involves working close to the eye, that reduction in chemical contact is meaningful for both the client and the lash artist.
Understanding Curl Variations Through Shield Shape
Ashtyn shared one of the most practical tips of the episode: "The bigger the hump, the more subtle the curl will be. The flatter it is, the more dramatic the curl will be."
Shield selection is one of the most underestimated decisions in a lash lift service. Most artists pick a size based on lash length. But shape determines the actual curl result. Understanding how shield geometry affects the final look allows you to customize results to each client, rather than giving everyone the same default curl.
The kit includes multiple curl variations and shield sizes specifically to support that customization.
The Lamination Adhesive: A Different Standard
Danielle made a direct comparison to lash extension adhesive that most lift artists haven't thought about: "Unlike lash extension adhesive, you don't have to replace this so frequently. You can really use the whole bottle."
Extension adhesive has a short shelf life once opened and has to be replaced often. The lamination adhesive in the Brilliant kit is formulated differently, with a longer usable lifespan. That's both a cost benefit and a practical one for artists who don't run a high-volume lash lift schedule.
The Y-Comb: One Tool That Changes How You Work
Jess had the strongest endorsement of any product in the kit: "I think it's just like one of those things that I feel like, I don't know, I don't think I'll ever not use it. Like I feel like it's the best way to separate the lashes."
The Y-comb is included as an application tool because of how it handles lash separation during the lift process. Once you use it, it's hard to go back to working without it. It's a small tool with a genuine impact on the final result.
